RFI Engineering Launches G-router
Amsterdam, November 3, 2008
RFI Engineering, a designer and provider of distributed
intelligent radio solutions, today launched the G-router, an
intuitive and programmable universal GSM/GPRS machine-to-machine
terminal. The G-router comes in a compact form for integration
into a large range of appliances with little engineering effort.
The G-router can be deployed to monitor "managed" customer routers/modems via GPRS, providing a redundant link for
maintenance and support purposes. The GSM/GPRS technology will
bring immediate benefits such as online connections plus cost
efficient, high-speed data transmission. The additional remote
power switch can remotely control external high power equipment
by which a remote system can be effectively rebooted.
The G-router is optimized to provide a reliable and price
competitive solution for wireless M2M projects. Including all
the software and hardware components needed to transfer
encrypted data over wireless networks.
The G-router can also be used in different applications:
-
Stand-alone network - where equipment can be
remotely accessed without needing to use the end customers
LAN e.g. security surveillance camera's, access control, and
electronics displays.
-
Remote Isolated equipment - where there is no
LAN infrastructure e.g. passenger information systems,
traffics systems, security surveillance and industrial
automation.
-
Leased Equipment - where equipment is
regularly re-located e.g. generators, chillers, compressors,
industrial plant hire, and heating equipment.
-
Network Back-up - where a secondary remote
access route is required in case of a failure through the
customers' WAN connection e.g. Fiber network connections,
Building automation systems, Epos systems, CHP systems,
generators and UPS.
-
Mobile Equipment - where it is not possible
to create a wired WAN connection e.g. transportation such as
rail and taxi's where PCs, cameras, HVAC, EPOS systems and
other assets can be networked to the outside world.
"In the case of providing
managed services the G-router eliminates needless site visits by
technical staff, and enables higher SLA scores and higher margin
for the carrier," says Peter Calis, CEO of RFI Engineering. "On
the other hand the G-router can also be used as a mobile device
to wirelessly access Internet devices. The possibilities are
endless. Imagine how many Internet devices are installed in the
world today, and the numbers are only growing."
