RFI Engineering launches the Remote Update Manager (RUM)
Almere, June 27, 2011
RFI Engineering, a leading manufacturer of smart data solutions,
access controllers, port controllers and remote management
accessories, today announced the Remote Update Manager, which
enables over-the-air feature and update facilities for RFI
Engineering’s smart data router product family.
The Remote Update Manager is a sophisticated software suite and
has been designed to streamline the process of getting a GSM
G-router or CDMA C-router up and running on a public and/or
private carrier network. The Remote Update Manager is network
agnostic and is suitable for secure private APN-enabled networks
or public Internet networks.
The new Remote Update Manager gives clients greater flexibility
and control by managing over-the-air software features and
updates. A software update service is maintained for the
worldwide customer base from which new software updates can be
downloaded to each implemented smart data router. The remote
software update mechanism has been designed in such a way such
that the operator’s original settings of the smart data router
are maintained during a software update.
"RFI Engineering’s CDMA C-router or GSM G-router solution is the
market-leading choice for operators who are looking for a
reliable out-of-band management solution," said Peter Calis,
Chief Executive Officer of RFI Engineering. "With the
introduction of the Remote Update Manager we are committed to
provide the best device management upgrade services for our
smart data routers. Not only new features can be installed on
the fly, a new application can also be implemented in a secure
and customer friendly routine."
The Remote Update Manager is in use by a large wireless US
operator and by RFI Services, RFI Engineering’s own worldwide
software update service.
RFI Engineering’s Remote Update Manager (RUM) software suite is
available for SunOS and Linux.
